Dr. Singletary and Dr. McCarty have been friends for years. They were introduced by a mutual friend many years ago when it was discovered that they both wanted to be dentists. With similar goals and ambitions, they moved to Bradenton, FL, and attended LECOM School of Dental Medicine with one common dream – doing dentistry differently. From there, they established a lifelong friendship that eventually blossomed into a business partnership with the birth of Seaside Smiles. They would like to welcome you to their practice where you will surely be treated like family.

Jim Singletary, DMD

Dr. Singletary is originally from the small coastal farm town of Tabor City, North Carolina. After high school, he soon went on to pursue a degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he was a 2010 graduate. He always knew he wanted to be a dentist. In fact, he wrote a book in his 3rd grade art class about being a dentist when he grew up. His mom has it on display back at their home in North Carolina. With his persistent goals of dentistry in mind, he packed his bags and headed south to Bradenton, where he was a 2018 graduate of LECOM School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, he served on the ADA’s student division (ASDA) as the District Five Trustee. Representing the dental schools of Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Puerto Rico, he frequently visited Chicago where he advocated for dental students and worked closely with the American Dental Association® (ADA).

He loves that life brought him to the Sunshine State, but makes sure to find plenty of time to go back home to North Carolina to visit family. You will often hear him talk of his two nieces (Charlotte and Emma) who have completely stolen his heart. Fun fact: he even shares his birthday with the oldest, Charlotte – March 14! He calls her his “birthday buddy.” Dr. Singletary lives in downtown Tampa with his 4-year-old mini goldendoodle, Wrigley, who is a part-time employee that you will surely meet soon. When he is not drilling teeth, you can find him doing some traveling and eating at all the good local restaurants – he is a foodie so give him all your recommendations for both. He and Dr. McCarty have been best friends for many years and are so excited to welcome you to Seaside Smiles.

Brantley McCarty, DMD, FAGD

Originally a Virginia Tech Hokie, Dr. McCarty relocated to Florida to obtain her dental degree where she fell in love with the Sunshine State. She moved to Bradenton where she attended LECOM School of Dental Medicine and graduated in the class of 2017. While at LECOM, she served as the president of the entire student body and graduated with the student leadership award. Her family was secretly jealous of her move to Florida and quickly followed her down and settled in Siesta Key. She and her family are extremely close and she loves having them as her neighbors – her mom would not have it any other way. Her sister, Catherine, is following in her footsteps and is currently in dental hygiene school in Tampa.

One of Dr. McCarty’s proudest achievements is becoming a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). This honor is only achieved by about 6% of general dentists and the majority of these doctors have worked as a dentist for decades. To become an AGD Fellow, she successfully completed over 500 credit hours of continuing education and passed a rigorous examination. As her patient, you are receiving the highest quality dental care from a trusted expert in the field.

Dr. McCarty is extremely passionate about cosmetics and is a huge advocate of clear aligner therapy. She uses Invisalign® clear aligners as a progressive tool to give patients not only the smile they deserve, but also to improve their quality of life. She also offers BOTOX® and is certified in both cosmetic and TMJ BOTOX therapy. Ask her how you can benefit from these procedures and follow her on Instagram to see how she can transform your life and change your smile today!

Outside of work you can find Dr. McCarty listening to the newest pop-culture podcasts, reading on the beach and trying to get tickets to the next Taylor Swift concert. She and Dr. Singletary love to travel and would love to hear your recommendations for their next adventure!
